European football's governing body has opened a disciplinary case concerning Chelsea's Pedro Neto after he shoved a sideline assistant in the Champions League defeat against PSG.
The 26-year-old, Pedro Neto, pushed the attendant in stoppage time of the last-16 first leg at Parc des Princes – where his team suffered a 5-2 – which caused him to fall off a stool.
The incident triggered a heated exchange involving players from both teams.
The governing body confirmed action has been taken against the player for "unsporting behaviour" as per the official rules.
"Disciplinary officials will take a decision regarding this matter in the coming days," European football's governing body announced.
Neto apologised for the incident and blamed getting swept up "in the emotion of the game" while he was attempting to get back the ball.
"That is not who I am. Emotions were running high and I want to apologise. My shirt was given to him. I deeply regret it - I owe him an apology," Neto explained to broadcasters.
"My French is not very good, so teammate Vitinha came over and said to him I was not like this.
"At the end he accepted the apology and I gave him my shirt apologising repeatedly. He understood the context of the incident and was happy with how it was resolved."
Chelsea face Paris St-Germain in the upcoming second leg in the second leg, after a match against Newcastle at their home ground on Saturday in domestic competition.
